Flume to Perform at the 2022 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival - www.flumemusic.com

Flume is an Australian musician, DJ, record producer and a pioneer of future bass, a style of electronic dance music popularized in the 2010s.  He has released three studio albums to date and has won major music awards in Australia and abroad.  His stage name comes from a song of the same name by indie folk band, Bon Iver.

He was born Harley Edward Streten on November 5, 1991 in Sydney, New South Wales to parents Glen and Lyndall.  At age eleven, using a Windows-based music program packaged in a box of breakfast cereal, he was able to teach himself basic music mixing and DJ skills.  He began producing house music and remixes in 2010 as “HEDS,” his initials.  His first airplay was “Possum,” a song uploaded to the government-funded radio station, Triple J Unearthed.  In 2011, Flume was signed to independent record label Future Classic.  His self-titled debut album, released in 2012, was done on the first laptop he’d ever purchased.  It debuted on the Australian charts at number two.  The album was released in North America on the Mom + Pop Music label in early 2013 to critical acclaim.  Flume began an Australian tour in 2013 and a world tour in 2014.

Skin, his second studio album, was released in May 2016.  Its first single, “Never Be Like You,” became Flume’s first chart-topping hit and went on to be voted the number one song in the Triple J Hottest 100 of 2016.  Featuring sixteen tracks with a one-hour runtime, the album received even more critical acclaim, winning the Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 2017 Grammys. The album spawned a successful EP, Skin Companion EP 2 in 2017.

2019 brought with it his first solo project since 2017.  Hi This Is Flume is a thirty-eight-minute-long mixtape featuring collaborations with such notable artists as British rapper Slowthai, American rapper JPEGMafia and Scottish singer/musician Sophie. The mixtape was nominated for a second Best Dance/Electronic Album Grammy in 2020.  His third studio album, Palaces, is scheduled for release in May 2022 on Future Classic.

Flume is scheduled to perform at the 2022 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on Friday April 16th and Friday April 23rd. KWXY Music Radio supports musicians and artists performing in the Coachella Valley, as well as independent music labels, and emerging talent all over the country.
