KWXY Presents ● The Music of Banda MS
Banda MS, or Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizárraga, is a large Mexican Banda group founded by brothers Sergio and Alberto Lizárraga in Mazatlán, Sinaloa in 2003. The band debuted in 2004 with the album No Podrás and hit number one on the US Latin charts in 2016 with Qué Bendición. One of their original members, singer Julión Álvarez, left the group in 2006 for what would be a successful solo career with two Latin Grammy Awards and a Grammy Award nomination. Their current lead singer is Alan Ramirez, who was shot and injured in a random incident in Mexico City in 2016.
In 2016, Banda MS received an award from Latin American singles chart Monitor Latino during their first US concert tour in Grand Prairie, Texas. The award was for the song “Solo con Verte” which stayed at number one for twelve consecutive weeks.
Banda MS has released fifteen albums to date with their most recent in 2020, El Trabajo es la Suerte. They have won forty-one awards to date, including the 2021 Favorite Latin Duo or Group at the American Music Awards.
