Today we honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Born on this day January 15, 1929. Dr. King was one of the most notable figures in American history, and his commitment to social justice and vision of equality changed the world for his children and the children of all oppressed people.

Dr. King was a minister, activist, and political philosopher, as well as one of the most prominent leaders in the civil rights movement.

From winning the Nobel Peace Prize for combating racial inequality on October 14, 1964, to his social activism that led peaceful protests during the Civil Rights Movement, he forever changed our nation in his fight against racial inequality.
